Isla Mujeres Private Chef Found!
It was getting down to the last minute when Clienta found an option for a New Year's Eve birthday dinner -- Logan Day, the Happy Maki Chef.
I had searched in vain for someone who could come in, on New Year’s Eve no less, to prepare a dinner for a special birthday celebration and cater to a diverse range in age and tastes for a party of 16. The youngest in our group is just over 2, with several other kids, their parents and a set of grandparents rounding it out. Logan came to my rescue less than a week before, and we quickly had a menu planned and all set.
The dinner was superb. Fresh vegetable apps and spreads, chips, salsa, ceviche and handmade tortillas; a most delicious lentil lime soup (which the two-year-old slurped up greedily out of MY bowl); achiote chicken kebabs and a fresh fish tikin xic. All followed by a traditional tres leches birthday cake.
Not only was the food great, Logan herself is an engaging presence and really helped make the party go. We arrived the day before NYE, hot, cranky and tired from a full day’s travel. As we were settling into the villa, Logan stopped in to take a look at her workspace. She also solved a problem with our golf cart rental, gave us the lowdown on where to shop and eat, and even took pity on the starving masses and waited around to lead our ragged golf cart parade on her scooter to a late lunch/early dinner.
I really can’t say enough about what a great service she provided and how thankful we are that we found her! I wish I’d taken her up on her offer to provision the house for us – a cold Sol in the fridge upon arrival would have REALLY helped.
