Breakfast near Union Square / Chinatown?
I'm visiting SF with my parents and 4 year old niece at the end of the month and will be staying at the Hotel Triton. Breakfast is not included in the deal, so I'm after some recommendations for a nearby breakfast. Proximity to the hotel is a must since I can get pretty grumpy if I'm hungry and the horrendous jet lag will not help this (I am arriving from UK).
A good jook place or bakery in Chinatown would suit well (my parents are Cantonese), but I'm also keen for other cuisines too.
Thanks!

Not far from your hotel is The Golden West, literally a HITW (order thru an open window), serving some great breakfast & lunch items. You can take the food back to room or nearby Crocker Galleria bldg where they have tables & chairs (& a coffee place since GW doesn't sell coffee...at least they didn't a year ago). We've enjoyed their morning bun, pork & beans with poached egg, & banana bread.

On the flip side of the same building as Golden West is the generically named Coffee Bar, serving Mr Espresso lattes etc (for them's that doesn't need third wave coffee) and, more importantly, the kouign amann from Starter that many are enamoured of. They had the original and the chocolate when we went twice in November. Again, not a sit down place but there are a few chairs outside under the overhang. Both GW and Coffee Bar are only open Mon to Fri and are a bit of a walk downhill from the Triton but not bad.

re: shanghaikid
hing lung is still closed...no sign of when it will re-open.
Washington Bakery in Chinatown does sit down breakfasts (Chinese, as well as as Hong Kong style "western" breakfast). Most chinese bakeries and dim sum takeaways in Chinatown should be open as well.
There are branches of La Boulange on California and also on Sutter
