In Focus Plaza/San Gabriel Square news, Wang Xing Ji has opened in the upstairs space most recently housing the Wuhan/Sichuan place, Happy Eating (prior to that Shu Feng). The menu notes Juicy Dumpling "since 1913".

Ok, so who has the backstory on this place? Where did they originate in 1913?

Also, Little Sheep Hot Pot has a coming soon banner up now, along with a now hiring notice in the window.

Some sleuthing led me this webpage:

If Google Translate is to be believed, It describes the a history of a well-known restaurant in Wuxi (Jiangsu Province) that fits the description.

    Here's the translation:

Several other site mention that it's famous. Here's Frommer's take on it: http://www.frommers.com/destinations/...

As mentioned already, it's from Wuxi, so the food tends towards the sweeter side than Shanghinese.

Their main draw would be the giant soup dumpling (straw provided and all), but they also have a couple different versions of XLB (i.e. crab, fish, etc.).

Thanks Peripatetic, yangster. It was late and I was away from being able to look it up. I've run across references to Wuxi style being much sweeter, particularly the pork.
