  1. We were in Lisbon a few years ago and on the advice of a Lisbon native-friend, we ate at Solar Dos Presentos. It's popular with the locals, and I thought the food was very good. It's one block off the Avenida Liberdade at Rua das Portas de Stº Antão, 150.

    1. Just a warning, but as you probably know DOC and DOP belong to the same chef (Rui Paula) so the cuisine will be very similar.

Right -- I was thinking one or the other.

      2. Hi,

Form your list to Lisbon I just know Bocca which is very good.
Talking about very good Portuguese chefs, I would recommend
        • Alma from Henrique Sa Pessoa:
        • Feitoria from Chef: José Cordeiro:
        • Tasca da Esquina from Vitor Sobral:
        • Cantinho do Avillez from Jose Avillez:
        • Quinta dos Frades from Chakall:
But I would definitely recommend something more traditional. You need to go to ‘Santo Antonio de Alfama’ located is the heart of Alfama neighborhood
        Have fun!

          We are in Lisbon now.
If you had to choose, would you go to Alma or Bocca?

          thank you

            I would choose Alma :)

            1. re: anaToronto

For me the top in Lisbon for the moment is Assinatura.
Between Alma and Bocca, i prefer Bocca

              1. re: bimbog

Weather is amazing: low to mid 70's.
No one seems to mention manifesto.
                Any comment on it?
                thank you

                1. re: rmillman

I don´t like Manifesto, in the area Alma is much better.

                  How was your experience tonigth?

                  1. re: bimbog

tonight we were at O Cantinho do Avillez.
Nice comfortable room with good but not "I want to make it at home" food.

                  2. re: rmillman

Manifesto is OK but Alma is much better

                        Thanks all for the suggestions.
We are going to Alma tonight, Bocca tommorrow and Assinatura for luch tomorrow. Tasca looks good but no room for another place to try before we leave.

Let we know your feedback after!

Just a quick note: sometime lunch menus are different from dinner, and sometimes "less especial", but I'm talking generally

          2. I really enjoyed 100 Maneiras in Lisbon. Interesting, modern food well prepared and well matched with selections from their list, for less than you'd pay almost anywhere else.

Likewise I thought Foz Velha in porto was worth the taxi ride from central Porto.
