ISO excellent grilled calamari

Where can we go to find excellent GRILLED calamari? Specifically, as an entree, not as a salad or part of another dish? I, admittedly, have not pulled up individual restaurant menus to search.

We are open to all price ranges, boroughs, and variations. Thanks in advance!!

I had good grilled calamari tonite at D'Andrea. It was a little different than usual in that it had a light coating of a tomato based sauce on it, and mixed into a salad. It was very good. After that I had sweetbreads that were delicious

In fact, I have had that very dish before and had forgotten about it. Delicious!

My husband is in search of calamari simply grilled in the seaside Mediterranean style. Smokey flavor, cooked correctly, squeeze of lemon. You know...flavors opposite of January in NYC :-)

I've always really enjoyed the grilled calamari at Ethos, but I haven't found any of their other dishes particularly memorable. I believe it's an appetizer portion though.

Taverna Kyclades in Astoria has an excellent grilled calamari entree, an incredibly large amount of food for $13.95 with veggies -- I have literally taken half home.

I have had the calamari at Kyclades it was very good. I will have to try the octopus at SD26, I have had the grilled octopus at Eataly, I enjoyed the octopus at Aglio more than at Eataly. I liked the grilled sardines I had at Eataly

It's not grilled calamari, but the grilled octopus at Aglio is fantastic. I love both grilled calamari and grilled octopus.

I'm pretty sure most Greek or Japanese restaurants have grilled squid available on or off the menu. Others will have to assist on specific restaurants.
