3 Nights in NYC, "foodie" needs help with meal ideas! PLEASE!

I'm sure this topic has been beat to death. But rather than skimming through the board for hours looking for answers, I'm hoping for quick and easy suggestions. I need to clarify that I use the term "foodie" loosely. The last time I used this word on chowhound, I received a backlash of snarky comments from the LA board. I've managed to get lunch seating at EMP =). But I'll need some more ideas. Ko? WD50? The Modern? Anywhere Japanese worth going to? (from LA, btw) MUCH APPRECIATED!!

      When are you coming?

How many people in your party?

What's your budget, per person, for food only (before tax, tip, wine/beer/cocktails)?

      This may help:

WD-50 is good, but order carefully. I'd avoid the tasting and do a la carte. It's the only real molecular gastronomy place in NYC, and if you're coming from LA perhaps not a "must visit" unless you're a huge MG fan.

It's a party of 4, middle of Feb, and budget varies. We are willing to $$ for good food. A mix of fine dining and casual would be nice. You're right about MG. It's not the top on our list with all the MG joints in LA.
