Business dinner for 60 people

Hi everyone! I am helping my husband plan a dinner for his office in June. There will be approx 60 people in attendance. We want the cost to be under $65pp. Does not need to have an open bar, but wine with dinner or something similar would be nice, but not a deal breaker. The room also has to have media capabilites (there is usually some kind of slideshow involved). As far as the area, somewhere south of La Jolla. Downtown,. Coronado, Point Loma, areas around there would work. Nothing North County. The people that we are throwing the dinner for are very particular and have turned down all my suggestions! Champagne dreams on a caviar budget, isn't that how it goes? :)
Hoping you all can help me, as you have done so well in the past! Let me know if I can give you more info. TIA!!

Thanks everyone! I actually looked into most of your suggestions and the prices wouldn't work out, or there was some other reason it would not work. We eneded up (tentively) booking Alchemy for the whole night. It seems like it will work within our budget. I will send an update once the event happens on how the venue worked out, in case others want to use it too. I love the restaurant, so I have high hopes.

it sounds like you're planning a presentation, so make sure you get the private room. If you end up in the rotunda or main dining room, the audience will not be able to hear the speaker.

            Hey master..
The building is horrid on the outside filled with too many meh attorneys but the top has a great restaurant with fab views..
            Underground parking is a plus..
Another option is Jsix at the Hotel Solamar in the Gaslamp.
            Keep us posted!

OOh, Jsix would be great too! I haven't been to Mr A's , but the website makes it look great. I took a look at their catering menu and was impressed. We are planning for a Saturday night in June, but hope its not too late to book somewhere. It's a going away for the graduating medical residents at the hospital. They usually do a slideshow and each resident makes a speech, etc so it has to be semi-private. Thanks again for the responses.

any free food will be welcomed by the residents! The other idea is the Faculty Club at UCSD; food is decent, nothing exciting, but you'll get the private rooms and media capabililites in a nice, comfortable setting.

Alas, the residents are paying the $65pp too! We usually make the attendings pay a little more to offset the price. No free food for us!

Are any of the attendings members of the University Club? I heard that they revamped the space and are trying to up the food quality. As a former resident, I thank you for actually putting some thought into a farewell dinner for your group. We ended up with some very very crummy hotel food. Even almost 30 years later I remembe how bad it was.

bummer...wonder if getting sponsers (ie: locums tenens, hospitals, etc) would help offset the cost?

Roy's in UTC has 2 small-medium sized private rooms that can be combined into 2 and they have media capabilities. 60 might be a tight squeeze, but it's worth a call.

Excellent recommendation, in addition to having good food options and easy access from the highway with parking, they also have a good media set up.
