Adventorous Under the Radar Spot (West Village or Union Square)

I am looking for a somewhat under the radar or hidden gem for a dinner with an adventurous foodie. It doesn't have to be some sort of extreme cuisine, but something that a foodie would appreciate who has tried all the normal foodie spots. Not really worried about price. West Village or Union Square vicinity would be great.
