EMERGENCY REQUEST FOR CHEAP WHITE BIRTHDAY CAKE
So its my hubby's birthday tonight and he has requested the cheap white grocery store cake of his youth (otherwise known as his 30s). He is on a strict diet and has designated this his one day of the year to throw calorie caution to the wind
Loblaws used to have to best…is this still true?
So please, Chowhounds, I beg you to tear yourself away from dreams of offal (Black Hoof) and Tom Yum soup (Khao San Road) and HELP ME OUT!
PS. Just so you know how old-skool we're going tonight, the cake is to be served after ribs & salad with the two dressings mixed together at Steak Pit on Avenue rd.
re: Toronto Fastfoodie
My Mom is a huge fan of "white cake" and we had one from Loblaw's a couple of months ago. Not exactly my cup of tea (piece of cake?) but it was classic white cake.
BTW... did Steak Pit ribs last month for the first time in many years. OMG!!! still great and very little has changed. Felt like I was 14 again. Lots of families (folks who went as kids now taking their kids) and a real nostalgic treat! Blue Cheese dressing still good! Improved salad bowls! LOL! Have fun!
I hope it went well :) For next year, try the cake at Costco for the white cake with white icing and custard(y) filled cake. It is one of my guilty pleasures and buy one when there are enough people at a party to eat it.
