Is there any where in the DC area that you can learn how to shuck oysters? Thanks.

I know of no place in the immediate area, but they give shucking lessons at the St. Mary's County Oyster Festival in the Fall. There are many videos that demonstrate technique, if you just google it. Also, you can watch at open raw bars, like Faidley's at Lexington Market. It really isn't hard, but you need practice to do it efficiently. Good Luck!

Maybe if you get enough people interested you can have one of the local oysters bars set something up on an off night.

I learned at a New Years Eve party with a few bushels a long time back.
It was certainly a fun event! Hope you find a good spot.

It looks like Barracks Row Culinary Crawl will have shucking lessons on the 29th -

Get some oysters and a flat-head screwdriver.
Grab an oyster and stick the business end of the screwdriver in the hinge of the oyster.
            Twist until the hinge pops.
            That's it.

Tune in next week, when we'll discuss how to open a beer.
