I've had jars in te cupboard for over a year with no ill effects.

It's pretty acidic, if it's a highly concentrated version, so it should last a really long time. If it does go, it'll be via some kind of mold, probably harmless healthwise but it can hurt the flavor.

          +1 (well, almost : ) and I don't refrigerate it.

If you mean the soap bar sized block of paste, it does not need refrigeration and will keep forever if tightly wrapped.

I've thrown jar with red top not long ago, unfourtanatly forgot about it in fridge for very long months. I think for this paste in jar which is not so dry fruit, half a year in fridge should not be exceeded. Another important point that is main reason for problems - using clean spoon as always with preserves..

I have two of those jars (bought on Amazon and first was out of date so they sent another). They are in my spice cabinet for, oh, over a year at least, I'll use some soon now that you reminded me and let you know.
