Help! ideas for Romantic Restaurant in Boston

Ok, so my boyfriend is coming back to Boston next week from being gone for two months.
I want to take him out for a nice romantic dinner, but I'm a little stuck on where to go. Obviously a super noisy place won't do, but I still want it to be fun and definitely good food. I don't want to go super expensive. I'd say 20-30 bucks for an entree.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone.....ok I think I'm narrowing it down between Marco and Grotto....I think somewhere a little quieter will be the right move.....but I'm def gonna try all the suggestions at some point for sure

Definitely check out Pigalle - super romantic and very intimate.

Toro and Coppa are also favorites - funky casual atmosphere and small places - a little on the louder side though, but definitely fun date spots

Erbaluce is also a good option.

      Also, I second Bondir

I'd agree about Pigalle. My husband and I find it intimate and intriguing. We really love it there!

If it's not too late, I think sitting at a sofa at the Brisol Lounge at the 4S sharing a salad and a burger can be damned romantic.

Ristorante Euno in the North End oozes romance (119 Salem St).
It's a quaint, dim-litted, warm Italian spot with great food. I'm not sure about the prices, but they should be in that range.

Piattini Wine Cafe on Newbury Street

            Stella in South End

I say Scampo at the Liberty hotel. The pasta and clams and the garlic bread are homeruns.

                bella, there's a current thread in CH Home Cooking on pasta w/Clam Sauce, so just out of curiosity, does Scampo do theirs w/ steamer clams or hard shells- did you happen to notice before you disappeared it?:-}

                  Romance Warning:

While I agree that Scampo's food is excellent, the OP should be aware that it is VERY loud....so loud that a romantic conversation cannot be had imo.

Yes the room may be a bit louder then the cliche romantic restaurant, but my thinking was they have really great service, a nice room, and great food. It's a nice space, and then relaxing in part of the multi story lobby could be like having a romantic getaway vacation with out the cost of a high tariff room. The OP was also looking for fun, and sometimes the 'romantic' places can be quiet and stuffy. Lot's of interesting suggestions.

Also consider Marco in the North End.

I'd say South End Buttery, but make sure to get a corner table downstairs. It can get a little noisy if crowded though.

I've only eaten there once, but I thoroughly enjoyed it: Mamma Maria (most entrees in the high 20s). It's in the North End, it's got tablecloths, it's small without being cramped, and the food is very good. I'll throw it's hat in the ring for his question.
