Special lunch for four old friends this Saturday, any manhattan neighborhood

We're sending the kids out for pizza and want to enjoy something special for a rare get together. So many of the mid-high end restaurants don't do lunch on Saturday...holding a Rez at dbModerne, but would happily do something more interesting/ adventurous. Thanks!

Thanks Hounds! We wound up at Toqueville and had a delicious, and perhaps more importantly, delightful, lunch. The room is so pretty, the staff was so friendly and unpretentious, and the food was gorgeous. Loved everything about it, including that you can be completely happy with the prix fixe lunch - which is a GREAT deal- or go deeper to the pocket, or mix it up a bit. Which is what we did. Looking forward to going back!

Agree with the Tocqueville and Jean Georges suggestions. Another excellent option is Cafe Boulud. Obviously, also a Daniel Boulud restaurant but far superior to and more special than dbBistro.

I would head to Jean George (not Nougotine). Much more special than db and the food they have been putting out recently is the best I've ever had there.

I would suggest Tocqueville for Saturday lunch. You'll find lots of love for Tocqueville here on this board.

Tocqueville is a great choice for Saturday lunch. You can always order off the regular menu, but they have their Saturday Greenmarket Special too. Prix fixe and very reasonable. Such a beautiful space... such delicious food!
