Looking for a great Whiskey Sour
My spouse loves a Whiskey Sour made of course with fresh squeezed lime/lemon. Where should I take her for her birthday to get a great one. Great food would be worth a bonus.

I'd go to Aburiya Toranoko or Lazy Ox for dinner, then drive a few minutes to Seven Grand whiskey bar for a whiskey sour.

My go-to cocktail. Best one I've had is at Houston's. They make their own sour mix from a variety of fresh-squeezed citrus, plus a little bit of egg white so that it gets a nice foam when shaken.

Just got this as part of an e-mail from the Border Grill.

The Varnish. Would also recommend trying similar sours with a whiskey base (Gold Rush, Blinker, etc.).

Arroyo Chop House, when ordered, suggested something they called a Kentucky Speed Bump, served otr and quite good. (...not much for the non-steak eater on the menu, but still like the place).

Hey Bruin,
If you can let me know which part of town you would like to be in, I can help a lot better. There are thankfully numerous talented mixologists in town these days who will make her a great one. But I shouldn't send you to Pasadena if you live in Santa Monica, there would be plenty right in your backyard. ;)

There are tons more places that could be on this list but I weighted food heavily. Copa d' Oro, Roger Room, Jones, Spare Room, Seven Grand etc. could all be there for great drinks but not so much great food, if they even serve food.
Turns out you should have no problem getting a great drink with some good food these days. Thanks to the burgeoning world of mixology.
Enjoy and let us know what you find.
