WP - Sunshine Deli (Taqueria) to close

Very disappointed to find out they will be closing shortly. No official date but shelves and fridges are all but empty. They are still serving from the steam table and kitchen. Get your tacos al pastor before they are gone!!

Anyone know of other good taquerias not in Port Chester or New Rochelle?? Preferably West of Bronx River and south of I-287?

Ugh, that sucks. Will greatly miss their huaraches and quesadillas - one of the few places in the county where they made the tortillas with masa.

Gourmet Laguna on Cross Street in WP has good tacos, tortas and cemitas. Haven't been to Roberto's on Post Road in a while, but I remember their tortas as being very good. Also noticed that Veracruz, which is further down on Post Road, is now open 24 hours a day - anyone been there recently?

Is Gourmet Laguna what replaced Flores Cafe? Been meaning to go there but always end up at Sunshine instead.

I tried the tacos at Gourmet Laguna yesterday. They are OK but not as good as Sunshine. Gonna try some spots in Yonkers and see what happens.

Gourmet Laguna did replace Flores, but I think it was just a name change, not an ownership change. What kind of tacos did you get? Sunshine's al pastor tacos reigned supreme, but I always liked Gourmet Laguna's chorizo and cecina tacos.

If you're checking out spots in Yonkers, I suggest Tacos El Poblano on Nepperhan Avenue. That was always my go-to place when I lived in Yonkers.

We're in Edgemont and it's our go-to place. It's worth the drive. They're pretty consistent and after going there for 10 years, that's saying something. Love their tacos de carnitas, arabes, dorados and cesina; tortas (though Sunshine's were my faves); quesadillas de huitlacoche or tinga; pozole; tamales, etc. Heck, we love the whole menu.

Upon re-reading my post, I realize I wasn't clear. I'm talking about Tacos el Poblano.

I had lengua, chorizo and carne asada tacos and pozole soup. Sunshine's al pastor is worth the drive. I'll try to hit them up again before they are gone for good.

Very disappointing news Pabboy. We didn't get there often but loved it when we did. Wish I could help with a rec but I am located in between NR and PC so we still have some very good options.
