Soma twigs - anyone tried them?

peppermint pate Jan 9, 2012 12:18 PM

TorontoJo's note about Soma reminded me about these treats. I bought a bunch over the holidays and smartly gifted one to myself via my husband...it was "wild apple caramel enrobed in dark Peruvian chocolate, walnuts & a twinkle of fleur de sel". We ate it over the weekend. Holy delicious, it was amazing! They were selling a couple of other flavours as well - one with praline and the other with pistachio, I think?

I'm not sure if these are a regular item or something special for the holidays but wow, super tasty. Great gift idea too.

Not sure I can quite justify it being one of my top 10 restaurants of the year but I am a huge Soma fan.

Holy crap, that does sound good. I haven't seen those before, so maybe they are new or a seasonal item like you said. Time for a visit!

Yeah, ok, these are kinda awesome. "Twig" is a bit of an understatement -- when I opened it, I thought "holy branch!"

Thanks for the tip and thanks to my chowfriend who gave me one. :)

Ha, Jo, you're so funny. I want a branch now too.

I thought the same thing when I opened it! I thought it'd be lots of small pieces - did not expect a bar at all.

Glad you liked them! Twig, branch, tomato, tomahto - I'll never turn away a yummy chocolate treat for being bigger than I thought...

I'm glad to hear they're still available. Think I may need to pick up a couple more...

Pondering running out in the rain to get some...

Run like the wind! And try the other flavours and report back, please. :)

The pistachio one is very good.

Forgot to take a photo of the flavours, but the only one left on King St West is the Wild Apple Caramel. It's really good. It's like a really well-made candy bar. Not too sweet given that it's a huuuge log of caramel.

I also got a soma tube while I was at it - the turron05 (64% chocolate, handmade toffee, cocoa nibs, feuilletine, and barberries). Haven't eaten it yet, but it's worth the price given the amount of chocolate!
