Kummelweck rolls in Westchester?

Been craving some beef on weck recently and haven't found anywhere that makes these rolls (well Patisserie Salzburg in Rye does small dinner rolls like these but not the same).

Anyone have any suggestions?

  1. Do you have a Wegman's nearby? They are from western NY, so maybe....

Nope no Wegmans around at all. Well, none within a looong drive.

    2. You can "doctor up" good kaiser rolls--brush with beaten egg white, sprinkle with kosher salt and caraway seeds and bake at 350 for about 10 minutes.

Not a bad idea there...did that once before with no-so-good results (ie: left in oven too long).

Will have to check into the Rockland Bakery in Nanuet, thanks rkaene

      2. Rockland bakery ( in nanuet) has some rolls that are pretty close, not sure what they are called, but they have the salt and caraway seeds. They are pretty good, but not kaufmans.
