I'm wondering if anyone's been to the Bizou Garden Bistro (formerly Cafe Bizou) in Santa Monica.

While under new ownership, I understand that the menu is mostly the same as when operated by prior ownership and very little has changed.

I'm just trying to get some unvarnished impressions about the place and how it's doing these days. Thanks!

  1. I went there about 3 months ago.

I ordered my Sherman Oaks standard, the sand dabs.

I was very disappointed as they were fishy tasting and there was skin on each filet. I can't remember ever having sand dabs with skin.

Salad was good, but the lobster bisque was missing the lobster. The bisque base was delicious. I'm used to having a couple lobster pieces in the bowl.

It's back to Sherman Oaks for me.

    1. Its not the same. My guess is the owners are Russian. I was there on a weeknight dinner, and there were only 4 tables ( including our own) filled. Service was disappointing. with so few tables to watch you would think they would not have to auction the food. Sauces tasted oily, and the salmon was not anything like to the valley Bizou cafe. When something says it comes with Potato pancakes, one expects a hash brown like disk - not fried mashed potato. Will not go back.
