Dayton - restaurants that offer wine flights?

Hi all, you folks are so darn helpful!

I am wondering if there are any restaurants in the Dayton/Miami Valley that offer wine flights.

Not looking for the wine bars, know about those already.

Looking for a place that is a restaurant first, but also serves at least a few options in wine flights.

Many thanks!

  1. I'm not sure what you're asking, so this might be "darn unhelpful!"

You know about area wine bars, but want a place that's "a restaurant first." So, if you are you after wine flights with some food, I've simply had the wine gurus at some local places (with good wine lists) put together a flight/pairing from their by the glass menu. If you're after food courses with wine pairings, several area restaurants regularly have special dinners with wine pairings (e.g., L'Auberge and Jay's). On Jan 20, DLM Cooking School is having a 7 course Sicilian Dinner with wine pairings.

That was helpful, never thought about approaching the restaurant to do it as a one time deal. Was hoping to find restaurants that already offer a few flights as part of their normal operation, but asking for it special is also a great idea. Any recommendations... I am not much for steak houses, unless they do a seriously interesting chicken menu. I've started up a beginners wine tasting group and am looking for a variety of places for us to meet, and DLM is already on the list for certain, as well as a few of the Kroger stores, the wine bars and the two BYOB places I know about (Olive and a Thai restaurant). Looking for other things to add into the mix and was hoping we could go for dinner and also get in a wine flight, outside the specific wine bars. Many thanks.

        good start on places...
A "possible" addition is Rue Dumaine's Tuesday wine tasting (5-7). Sadly, I think the Rue's stars have dropped recently--and $16 for the wines they offer is a bit pricey; my maybe others have had different experiences there.

I think Sidebar, in the Oregon district, offers wine flights. I haven't loved their food, but the bar is great and the wine list is fairly decent.

I'm trying to think where I was earlier this week. Olive, maybe, or Omega Records. But I guess there is a sign on Sidebar's door saying they are closed for the time being, and it was mentioned about not paying taxes. This was second-hand, mind you, but a word of warning if this is true and you want to check Sidebar out.

I was at Omega Records today and checked out Sidebar - open for business and no signs in the window. So if there was an issue, it's evidently been resolved. Sidebar is also participating in Dayton Restaurant Week this week,
