Pasadena - Tiparos Thai Restaurant

ElsieDee Jan 5, 2012 12:12 PM

We keep getting door hangers/menus from this Thai restaurant, proclaiming that it's under new ownership. We went there several years ago and waited over an hour for a (called in ahead of time) take-out order. Cannot recall the quality of the food.

Anyone been recently and have any comments on the food (and/or speed of service?

Located on Colorado Blvd., east of Sierra Madre Blvd, west of San Gabriel Blvd.

Hi Elsie. Yeah, they have been under new ownership a few times in the past few years. I have been about a dozen times. I usually eat in-house. Have ordered once to go. Order was ready when I got there. What I order is their Tom Yum soup (which I really like - I just get it with a few mushrooms, since the broth is what I am after), chicken Larb (which is okay with some doctoring) and sometimes wontons (how can you mess that up?) when I want something fried. I think their food is fine. Definitely passable. Spicier than other Thai restaurants. Maybe better than most but definitely not the best.
Service can be a little slow, but you can always find someone within a few minutes. Actually, now that I think about it, service has been better recently than it was in the past.

When my former colleague was working with me, we used to go to this place since he liked it very much. I have always gone their for lunch, when it would mostly be crowded. The place is on the small side, so it can get crowded, and there is not a lot happening nearby in that section of Colorado Blvd.

For my personal taste, it was OK, but not something that I would consciously think of when thinking of Thai in Pasadena environs.
