Is cao guo the same as black cardamom?
On a recent trip to the Asian market, I was searching for cao guo. I had googled some photos to know what I would be looking for, and what I ended up buying was something labeled as 'grass fruit'. Upon opening the package and cracking it apart, it smelled remarkably similar to black cardamom, although it looked less hairy. Is cao guo and black cardamom one and the same, or did I buy a completely different item?
