Edgartown in July

I am renting a house with friends in Edgartown for a week in July. We are looking for some good dining options and a good bar atmosphere preferably one that has an older crowd. We are willing to venture outside of Edgartown for a night or two but would prefer to stay local if possible. Thanks!

You will find plenty of spots to enjoy when in Edgartown, although in July it will be hopping. The bar at the Harborview Resort is a wonderful spot to relax and have a drink in the lounge or dinner in the dining room. Afterwards take a walk over to the lighthouse across the street. Right in the center of Edgartown I like the Newes, although the bar is quite small and it may be difficult to score a seat. Right on the harbor there are two restaurants with outdoor dining (names escape me) but both were good for fried clams, oysters, or sandwiches and a few drinks on the patio. Head over to Oak Bluffs and there are many more options. I love Lolas on the Beach Rd between Edgartown and Oak Bluffs for southern seafood and their lounge has entertainment. Most places will have a crowd of mixed ages, and of the places I've mentioned you will probably find the lounge at the Harborview to be the most upscale and quiet. Lastly, take a look at movol.com for restaurant reviews.

There was a recent thread on the Boston board on MV restaurants open in the winter - if you use the search function, you might find the discussion useful.

I believe you should be posting this to the Southern New England board, is MV is definitely not within the Greater Boston area.

I have posted it there as well. I assume that there are people in the Greater Boston area that vacation on the VIneyard.

I tend to think of MV as more NYers than Bostonians, and Nantucket the other way around.
