Baltimore- Mamey Sapote?

I just came back from a week trip to the Dominican Republic, where I fell in love with the mamey sapote fruit. The outside looks like a coconut, but the inside is sweet and creamy, almost like a roasted sweet potato! Does anyone know a place where one could get these in the Baltimore area???

SImply called mamey, I have never seen it for sale in a store in the area. I bought some once from a street vendor in the Mt Pleasant neighborhood of DC. They are in the markets and grocery stores in Miami. They are great for ice cream and shakes or eaten straight. The have mamey or sapote ice cream at York Castle in Rockville.
