Marben for dinner?

I am thinking of trying Marben for a casual early dinner this week - my SO likes beer and they seem to have a nice selection. How is the food there? Has anyone tried it recently?

Or is there another casual place you'd recommend that has food that's not too expensive and good beer and wine to choose from? I was also thinking County General.

Just wanted to say that we had a stellar meal at Marben on a weeknight about a month ago. Used dining date night and saved at least $25+. Everything was delicious (one app, two mains, two sides, one dessert though apple isn't my favourite flavour, cocktail, wine) and the female server was highly knowledgeable. She obviously knew a lot about food and drink. My friend didn't like her cocktail (wasn't to her taste) and the server removed it half way through the meal and didn't charge for it.

I love Marben...or loved it, but the Alsatian chef left recently and I cannot vouch for how the kitchen is holding up.

Yes, as KAYLO says... some big changes with Karl and Ryan leaving a few weeks back.

I like Marben. I was there last in September. My favourite is John's Burger with the braised ribs inside the burger patty. I like the Pommes Kennedy as well and their Pig Roast Dinner is great too.

My family and I immensely enjoyed the pig roast dinner we had at Marben a couple months ago. Everything was delicious and service was excellent. I've been meaning to go back ever since.

I think that Woodlot is about 30 percent more than Marben and I don't really them having a really great beer list...

Thanks guys - I looked at Woodlot and it's so popular I wondered whether we'd be able to get a table. We're heading out on the early side - probably 6:30 or so. Is it a tough place to get into?

You should be fine if it is not a Fri or Sat. As well, often things are a bit slow in Jan.

I really like Marben, though I haven't been there since the summer. If you are seriously looking at Marben, I'd recommend signing up for diningdatenight.com and make your reservation through them. For a $10 reservation fee, you get 30% off your entire bill, include alcohol. Great deal.
