Birthday Brunch Orange County

alexa52 Jan 3, 2012 07:45 PM

Looking for a nice place for brunch for my father's 70th birthday. He lives in Laguna Beach so something in Dana Point, Laguna, Newport would be great. Ocean view is always nice. Would love something that is more upscale and not casual. He loves breakfast and a good brunch.

Back in the day we loved going to Jon Dominos. Think it's long gone.

I've read review of Beachcomber in Crystal Cove, Splashes and the Ritz. Any opinions? Any other suggestions?

After looking into the menus more, I think that Splashes looks too casual. Could anyone confirm if this is a more upscale or more casual experience?

Great view of course and good food, but I would say Splashes is a tad more casual. You don't mention whether he prefers ordering off a menu or buffet, but my 2 favorities are Raya (menu) at the Ritz Carlton and the buffet at St. Regis. The buffet is very upscale and they will make you things like Bailey's Irish cream pancakes.

Good point. I think buffet would be fun. Thanks for the St. Regis suggestion.

BubblyOne. Thanks for the recommendations. We decided on brunch at the St. Regis. It was great. And well worth the money if you have the time to really make a day of it. Food was amazing, service attentive and atmosphere is just beautiful. Highly recommend it.
