Birthday Dinner- Del Posto/Scarpetta/Esca?

My husband made reservations at three restaurants for my birthday and is letting me decide- We've been to Del Posto and really enjoyed it, so I wanted to try something new- I've heard better things about Scarpetta as opposed to Esca. Thoughts?
Thanks so much!

Hands down Del Posto. Depending how long it's been since you were last there, the menu's likely completely different aside from a few of the signature dishes.

Scarpetta and Esca are both excellent, and of the two I'm probably a bit fonder of the latter, but I'm big on seafood in general so that could be why. I prefer Scarpetta's neighborhood, though. I don't do Midtown much.

That said, it's not like you'll have a BAD meal at any of them.

      Scarpetta.

If you want to try something new, don't go to another Batali restaurant: his food is extremely formulaic.

For me, Scarpetta is better than Esca.

If you're open to other Italian suggestions, I'd also recommend Marea or Lincoln.
