Where can I get beef tongue in the greater Boston area? (Raw, I'd like to cook it myself.)

any large asian market should have both whole beef tongue and thinly sliced beef tongue

Market Basket usually has both beef and veal tongue, usually cryovac-ed. At least the Somerville location does. The beef one is in the ~$3.50/lb ballpark, I believe.

The Produce Market in Framingham has them frozen.

Any Hispanic/Mexican market will have fresh Beef Tongues.

Super 88 or for a kosher one Butcherie. Bazaar on Cambridge Street in Brighton might also carry this but I haven't checked for myself and I have bought it at the other two markets.

Saw tongue in the Packards Corner Star just a few days ago. There's this kind of oddly located segment of the back wall, on a slant just to the left of where the hot dogs and sausages are. If memory serves, the tongue was in the upper left corner of this refrigerated case.

This was last week, mind: no telling if its still there or not.

Correction: just to the RIGHT of the hot dogs etc. It's kind of "around the corner" from the rest of the meats, heading along the back wall towards the dairy sections. Hams, prepared barbecue (LLoyd's, etc.) and suchlike are in the same area. Jenny Ondioline and I saw six beef tongues there on Thursday evening.

Hmart or Super 88 both have it -- and I bet you can request it from butchers such as Savenor's or McKinnon's.

Thanks, all. Found it at H-Mart. Made a lovely dish out of it, braised it, peeled it, sliced it, seared it and served it on top of a lovely dressed arugula salad.
