Hello all,

We are getting married in a civil wedding at the Cultural Center on March 17, 2012. We are looking for an inexpensive place to host a reception for our family and friends (all of whom are from out of town.) Obviously I know any Irish restaurant/bar is out of the question LOL

I appreciate the help!

How inexpensive? GreekTown comes to mind, but the most reasonable option I've seen in the Downtown area is Reza's on Ontario:

They're very upfront with their pricing, the food is good and filling and there's nothing too scary for "delicate" guests. Not the fanciest but we attending a reception there recently and it was lovely.

Thanks for this and they are on my list. They are very budget friendly which I like and when I lived in Chicago (over a decade ago) they were very good. I appreciate the help!

Since the wedding is at the Cultural Center, have you inquired about having the reception there as well? There's info on their website: www.explorechicago.org/city/en/supporting_narrative/attractions/dca_tourism/Chicago_Cultural_Center/Rentals.html

Otherwise, there are two places you can check listings of private party rooms. One is Opentable, which has a page for all their restaurants, and you can use check boxes to filter the results based on the size of your party, location, etc: www.opentable.com/info/banquets.aspx?m=3

The other is Lettuce Entertain You, a group of about 40 different restaurants in the Chicago area, in widely varying price categories. They have their own website and private party planners who can advise you on any of their venues: www.lettuceparties.com

      Good luck, and congratulations!

I found Orso's in Old Town which seems to be ok looking at reviews and the price is right for a luncheon. Anyone have any experience with them?
