EDIT - Darn, false alarm. A comment says that it isn't open and that the building permit is back up. I had figured that someone would have posted about it... anyway, original post below.
http://www.blogto.com/eat_drink/2013/...BlogTo is reporting that it opened on Monday..
You guys secretly going and not letting anyone know so you can avoid the lineups? :)

I decided to give BP North another try. During my visit, around 3 pm on a Monday afternoon, there were between 15 to 20 customers at BP. I ordered the double cheeseburger, since it was my first meal of the day, and I was famished. I received my burger in less than 5 minutes. Hunger is supposed to be the greatest chef, right? Even with the hunger bias, I found the burger to be ok at best. This cheeseburger was greasier than the cheeseburger I ordered at Holy Chuck, and some of the grease soaked into the bun. NTTAWWT. The patty was moist, and certainly not dry. I find their patty bland. Maybe I've become accustomed to highly-seasoned burgers, and a plain meat patty with American cheese doesn't do it for me. I'd take the often-bashed Webers burger, a Licks cheeseburger or a Wendy's Jr Burger with cheese over a BP cheeseburger, if I had the choice. That being said, I like the BP burger better than the awful burger at Hazel's diner, or the burger at the Abbot, so it probably is the best burger on Yonge between Lawrence and York Mills. I haven't tried the Burger Cellar burgers, although I've read negative reports from some Hounds who frequent the area.
The music wasn't loud on a Monday afternoon.
If I want a quick, less-than-$15 lunch in the Yonge & Lawrence neigbourhood, I realized yesterday I'd rather just go to Ciccio Sanwiccio.

re: Davwud
ha ha. I had a feeling you'd respond, Davwud. Seriously though- might just be an indication of my seriously non-discriminating burger palate, but I find a Wendy's Jr burger hits the spot whenever I order it. Maybe I've been conditioned to like Wendy's. This BP burger was ok, and certainly edible, but it didn't hit the spot, so to speak. I didn't feel like I'd want to return soon for the same thing- whereas after my burger at Harbord Room (i know, different animal, relatively fancypants burger, and certainly not the same kind of burger) I remember thinking I'd order another one on another visit. I'll try adding some salt & pepper next time I'm facing a somewhat bland burger.
Do you get all the toppings when you order the cheeseburger or double cheeseburger when you're at BP, Holy Chuck and Stockyards? If not, which do you get? I'm not a big fan of ketchup or mayo on my burger, so I'm guessing my ketchupless, mayo-less burger might taste quite different than the the fully loaded burgers. I can see how ketchup would add a sweetness and tang that might compliment that patty.

finally had a chance to try the burger's priest today, yonge st. location. decent. not spectacular or world changing. for toronto, it's good. not as good as goody's in the east end, but solid. would still rate it below places like burger joint in nyc. it's about on par with shake shack in the danny meyer empire in manhattan. the burgers are 4oz patties like shake shack. their default their burgers to well done, so it's a bit drier than i thought it would be. the fries are slightly better than expected, and there's a hell of a lot of them in a combo (had the priest combo). relatively overpriced for what you get, considering you get a better all round product at goody's, imho. note: catucci's "you gotta eat here" was filming as i arrived, so the place is going to get some more publicity shortly. . .

I went yesterday and it was jammed. It took 25 minutes to receive the burgers. It was worth it! My personal favorite burger has been the Burger Shack. BP beats them on the burger but IMHO the Shack still has the best fries around. BP is my new burger fix. I just need to figure out how to drive from Yonge over to Oriole to get my Shack fries before my burger gets cold.

I just got back from lunch; count me as a convert! The burger patty was so juicy it was running down my chin. The texture of the burger was soft and crumbly, which I prefer to biting into a meat puck. Fries were ok, but who cares! It was 2:30 and there was a line up and steady stream of people coming and going while I was there. Music was on the loud side, but I'm eating a burger at a burger joint not foie gras at Scaramouche. I was more surprised that a Bose sound dock could generate that much volume. Finally, the counter staff were friendly and kept the counters wiped and tidy.

I know it's a burger joint and I wasn't expecting Scaramouche like ambiance, but when the Bose sound dock is right next to your head when yer trying' to order or waiting for your food,is cranked full blast,it's kinda annoying...

Went today around 3PM, I had my usual, The Priest, S.O. had the cheeseburger combo. Fries seemed a little plumper than the usual skinny fries I've had at the original location.
eager to try the shakes when they become available.
here are some photos of the pilgrimmage...

So I just got back from BP(around 9ish) and I have to say it was a darned good burger(1st time there) Got the cheeseburger w/ bacon they were out of fried onions and only had about 20 patties left.It was a bit on the small side(I finished it in about 5 bites) but very tasty.Service was friendly and quick.Good tunes but too loud for me(I'm old, what can I say..) Next time I'll try a double or the high priest, whatever that is.
mstestzzz002..what is that thing in your very last photo????

Okay, I'm finally going to try a Burger's Priest burger this week and I'm debating what to order. Does the secret menu still exist? Do I wink or offer a secret handshake if I order off it? Debating between a double cheeseburger and the high priest - are they the same amount of meat but just an extra piece of bun in the middle and "special sauce" on the high priest? Then again, I've never had chili cheese fries before so maybe a single cheeseburger and a shared order of those are the way to go?

re: TorontoJo
OK. After much anticipation and waiting for this place to open in my "hood", i finally went in today. I've noticed large Linwood since Monday, and even today, after 3pm, it was still busy. The place looks good, with nice finishings. It's not huge but I did snag a stool. Had the cheeseburger with bacon and the chili fries. The burger was excellent. Loosely packed with juice flowing from it. Not try, but exceptionally moist. Not a huge bun, but the perfect texture for the meat. He fries......don't ask. A meal in itself! I don't think the priest will be direct competition to the Burger Cellar, nearby, as they serve a very different croud. So in short, decent burgers have finally arrived in North Toronto, and not a moment too soon.
If I I had to make one suggestion, turn the music down a bit, as you can't hear the cashier, or your name when they call it out. Great tunes!!!

re: foodyDudey
Okay, so I picked up this note just before heading over there yesterday evening. There were about 10 people in line ahead of us. I ordered a cheeseburger with fried onions, mustard and special sauce (when I asked the cashier what the special sauce was, she told me she couldn't tell me...too funny, I guess that's part of the secret menu mystique). Hubby ordered a cheeseburger with bacon and fried onions and we split an order of chili cheese fries. The burgers were great - well portioned, juicy, tasty and well-textured (it's definitely less firm than other burgers but it all kind of worked for me). Really liked the chili cheese fries as well.
The place was hopping, though the wait was never more than 10-15 minutes and we easily got seats as at least half the people were doing take-out. Turnover is fast, service was friendly and the music mix was fantastic - loud, yes, but it made for a great vibe (and we could easily carry on a conversation).
As a prelude to American Idiot, it made for a perfect double bill. Fun night!
By the way, what's the "altar boy"?

Went this evening, lineups inside were probably 10 deep at worst. Most people were taking it to go, so it wasn't too hard to find a stool if you really wanted one. Obliterated a Priest with cheesy chili fries. The priest was fantastic, but not too sure how the cheeseburger would stand up on its own. Milkshakes are not available yet.
Burger Cellar a couple stores down cannot be pleased.

Went for lunch today. This is my first BP experience and count me in the "let down by the hype" category. The burger was decent enough, but I really didn't care for the texture. Perhaps the grind is too fine, but the burger was very soft, almost mushy, in texture. Flavour was decent, bun was right, but the texture was the big downfall. The chili cheese fries, on the other hand, were really kinda awesome. Those could be a meal on their own. Grainy photo below.
Stockyards will continue to be my go to for griddled, smashed burgers. Which is too bad, since BP is so damn close. But, judging from the traffic, they won't miss me. Even at almost 2pm, there was a steady line of traffic in and out. Apparently opening night was jammed -- 600 patties in 3 hours! I wish them continued success.

re: GoodGravy
Shake Shack? I admit I've been on another planet for the last while, but there is a Shake Shack in T.O. now? Please tell! Or did you just happen to be in NYC the night before?
Sigh. What I'd give for a concrete, a portobello burger and some of those curly fries...Jeb's Custard is good, but not the same.-

re: punchythecat
Sorry, I'm in NYC most of the time so I get my pizza and burger fix here before going to Toronto. But BP's fb page did mention a b&w shake (Riggs & Murtaugh) and the Jarge (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry). Not concretes and no mention of where the ice cream comes from, but at least now you can get a shake to wash down that burger.
