Vegan restaurant near airport?
I have a stopover from Hawaii on Wednesday around lunchtime and will be in your city for 6 hours. Can anyone recommend a good vegan restaurant within a reasonable cab ride to/from the airport? I have been reading up on all the great vegan/vegetarian spots - too bad Millennium is only open for dinner!
Agreed, hop on BART to the city. Gracias Madre is vegan Mexican near 16th Street BART.
Or go to Local Mission Eatery (close to 24th St BART), which always has at least one vegan salad and sandwich on the lunch menu.
Of the two posts above, I prefer Udupi to Herbivore. Delicious dosas.
If you're flying Virgin America or America through terminal 2, there's a branch of The Plant past security, which has a number of vegetarian options for carrying on board.

Udupi Palace is vegetarian but you can order vegan. Probably tastier food than any of the 100% vegan places.
I like the Cha-Ya in Berkeley but reports on the one in SF seem to be more mixed.

BART is about $8 from the airport.
Herbivore would be my choice too. I enjoyed my last breakfast at Herbivore. I got these roasted banana pancakes and tofu scramble. The banana pancakes were great, huge portion. Tofu scramble was tasty, even though I like my homemade version better, as I bind mine with a little sauce to make it just like soft egg scramble.
There are several vegan Chinese places, like Golden Era, sprinkled through the city, but none really stand out in my mind. If you're in Chinatown, you might as well try a charsiu bao at Lucky Creation, I guess. Golden Era is probably the overall best in the area, I think it's near Civic Center Station.
Too bad you probably won't get to Judahlicious. They have a hemp milk soft serve that looks divine.
