Del Posto for lunch?

Apologies if this has already been asked, but i'm not from this area. i was hoping to go to del posto for lunch on tuesday, but i noticed they do not have any availability on open table - is that because they are totally booked, or do they not release lunch slots on open table. as a solo diner, i am perfectly happy sitting at the bar, would i be able to just walk in and do that at the start of lunch?

thanks

they do take lunch reservations of opentable, so if you're not seeing any it means that they're fully booked. that said, i would suggest calling them and asking to be put on a wait list. i'm not sure if they do this, but maybe they'll alert you if someone else cancels.

i've had lunch there just twice, but don't remember seeing the bar staffed.

Del Posto does not serve the dining room's menu at the bar.

As coasts says, if you can't in via OT, it's likely fully booked.

From the link to the interview above, I'm guessing they'll try, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

"What about [walking in] at lunch — two for noon?
Probably the same story, although you probably won't get in. Lunches fill up very very quickly, so unless the weather's a little iffy, you're probably going to need a reservation."

I'm not sure that Del Posto puts all of their bookings on Opentable. I was able to get a reservation easily by calling the restaurant even though Opentable indicated that there were no availabilities.

I've had luck calling restaurants to get a reservation when OT tells me they are booked. I've not done it for Del Posto, but I agree that vulber should at least should try.

Just got a reservation for Esca (another Batali place) for 2/25 at 7:45 by calling. OT was showing nothing until 9:45 that night. Point proved.
