Not finding any threads about eating out on New Year's day, lunchtime. Interested in any style of Chinese, or dim sum. Someone suggested Monterrey Park area? Any thoughts much appreciated!

Resturant crawling the SGV is one of my favorite things to do on New Years Day in LA. Most everything is open.

You can't go wrong with dim sum in Monterey Park. If you like the cart style, you can try Ocean star or Empress Harbour. The best are the sit down and order off the menu like Elite or Sea Harbour in Rosemead according to the those in the know on Chowhound.

      Monterey Park Empress Harbour

Every Chinese restaurant in the SGV that is owned or operated by someone who is not clinically insane will be open.

Thanks all. Indeed, everyone was open. We went to elite. Variety of dumplings, buns, veg. All very fresh, delicious. Looking forward to a return visit. Thanks!
