bread box

I am thinking of gettin a bread box-for two reasons !-to keep the bread fresh longer and 2-to keep the kitchen neater. Does any one have a style or brand that they would recommend?

Use a cardboard shoe box lined with some wax paper. Works like a charm.

My breadbox is my freezer. i take it out slice by slice. It keeps it fresh and prevents me from eating too much of it. Most good bread that doesn't have preservatives, etc. in it doesn't last more than a day or three, and we can't eat it that fast.

While I generally like the look and functionality of a breadbox, the freezer does a better job long term, but not everyone has freezer space for loaves of bread and baked goods.

I'd get a roll top for a more retro look, or fall front door style in black or maybe a copper box, in keeping with my kitchen theme. YMMV.

Most mass market and kitchen and bath type stores carry them; you could probably get one on ebay or maybe in a local thrift shop for a vintage model. Prices vary, and there's a breadbox for most budgets.

A friend has one similar to this http://fantes.com/brisker.html
Although they say it's not for bread if you're in a very high humidity location like the west coast of Mexico in the summer it does the job.
