Restaurant near Hillsborough, NJ
I am being dragged to the movie theater in Hillsborough (Raider Rd./Blvd) and we are looking for something to eat beforehand. It's 4 adults and 4 kids, so nothing fancy or that will take a long time. I suggested Tigers Tale, but any other options? No BK, McDonald's, Papa Johns, etc.

I'd stick with Tiger's Tale, if you're not into pizza or fancy. Get a glass of beer/wine and stick with something off the grill and you'll do fine.
Alternative close by would be Rocky Hill Inn (tavern side) for a really great burger and more. Kid friendly, with a disclaimer: our last 3 visits there were a bit of a letdown in the service dept, but that was a few months ago.
Forget, repeat, forget TUSK. Looks inviting but that's about it.

I'm glad OMR worked out for you. I've been to the New Brunswick location, but never at Hillsborough....passed it many times though...same as for the Tiger's Tale....passed many times in the past two decades, but never made it in. Places like the Tiger's Tale intrigue me...always busy not receiving a lot of credit for their menu or food, but the locals support the restaurant. That tells me the place must be a good family restaurant to flourish all these years.

re: fourunder
Tiger's Tale is a good family place, huge circular bar with a separate dining room adjacent, TV's galore in the bar area with numerous games on, longtime staff that does a great job, etc.
Cuisine is nothing more than you'll find at any other roadhouse (Cabin in Freehold, Wildflowers in Pennington, etc). Retro iceberg salads served with shrimp and egg is a throwback to days past. Prices are family friendly. Beer is the drink of choice here. The bartenders are also the grillmasters as the grill is in the center of bar.
As long as you get something grilled, you'll be doing well. Our favs are the montreal pork chops, the grilled cajun shrimp and the ribeye. Nothing to make a special trip for, but convenient for many in this area.
