I need grilled sardines
Of course I would like to know who has the best grilled sardines in Manhattan. But I would also like to know what restaurants have grilled sardines on its regular menu. In Madeira, I have had the best grilled sardines, and Portugal second. In NYC i had some at Cyclades (sp) in queens, and at Gigino , as a special in Manhattan. I can't seem to find any place that has them. I don't care what type of restaurant , I just want them. HELP

Well, you just missed my go to place in Bklyn, La Mancha, which had them on the menu all the time and they were as close to perfect as you can get. But Jose closed down last week. Oh well.
In Manhattan, Uncle Nick's on 9th Ave off W.50th St has a great grill and they do sardines well. Actually, I like them more than most on CH, as long as you stick to salads, cheeses and simply grilled fish. Waaay better than Kyclades these days (or Elias Corner for that matter) and not in Queens.

re: Steve R
Thanks to all. I did have sardines at Casa Mono and i think they were fried (but good), Maharlika has fried Bangus ( milkfish) ,i have never had grilled sardine in a Filipino restaurant, fried sardines I have had in the Phillipines. Uncle Nick's sounds interesting, so does the places mentioned in the slope.

Blue Ribbon Brasserie (also Blue Ribbon Bakery, where mysteriously they're 25 cents more), 508 Gastropub, Kefi, Alcala, and though I haven't been yet I noticed them when I was perusing the menu for Mas (La Grillade) - also, for something a little different, Maharlika does them Filipino-style.
Casa Mono only has them fried, as I recall.
...and if you want to head out to the 718, Convivium Osteria (a cozy little Portuguese/Mediterranean place in Park Slope) has great ones, and great food in general.
(Counting down until the Chowhound Team deletes this entry for daring mention an outer borough restaurant in the Manhattan board, even though it might be closer to you than some Manhattan places depending where you're starting from... 3... 2... 1...)
