PC Kulfi Karma ice cream

I just picked this up this morning at Superstore. It is one of the "recipes to riches" winners and it is delicious! I worry the flavour isn't mainstream enough to be around long, but wondered if anyone else had tried it, and if so what you thought.

  1. Omg!!!!! This was the best ice cream in terms of flavor. I was disappointed that it was not the overall winner. I hope they continue to carry it. Really nice , unusual flavor for me( not being Indian.) I am planning on stocking up.

I'm stocking up too! But the lemon pudding that won was pretty good - the rest of my household really loved it. I prefer my lemon desserts to be tart.

    2. OMG I am Indian and I like Kulfi but I tried this and thought it was absolutely disgusting... My family thought so too - we tossed it. It had a weird grainy texture and the pistachios were stale....

Maybe i liked it because I have no idea what Kulfi is supposed to taste like :)

The texture of whatvue bought is not at all grainy - maybe the store didn store it properly. But that wouldn't really help with the taste if you don't like that.

Here is a good recipe for Mango Kulfi: A 30-oz can of mango pulp (Indian grocery stores carry it), a 12-oz can of evaporated milk, a 14-oz can of condensed milk, and 1 cup of whipping cream, whipped. Mix all together. Optionally, add 2-3 oz toasted pistachio nuts or almonds. Freeze without churning---just freeze it in a pan, don't stir or use an ice cream machine as Kulfi is supposed to be unchurned. Makes 1/2 gallon, a lot since it's so rich you can't eat much at a time.
