Mas (La Grillade)
I have an upcoming reservation for a family dinner here, and am looking forward to it, but there's a lot of noise on the web regarding problems with the ventilation as well as their service and even food. Would love to hear your feedback on recent experiences here.

As a big fan of Mas, our recent dinner here was quite disappointing one. We were a group of 6, and this allowed us to sample varieties of food on the menu. As expected, the service was impeccable, and their wine selection is excellent: we had sub $100 white from Côtes du Rhône that was just beautiful.
I think the problem lies with the concept that does not get translated to the food: wood-fire grill and flavors that comes from it were really hard to find in any of the dishes, and it certainly wasn't from lack of wanting to. At the end of the dinner, we commented that we had more sense of the food as we approached the restaurant (neighborhood is permeated with the smell and so the local complaints) than actually from within.
