Pre Theater Dinner With Parents (Sorry!)
I know, shame on me, yet another chowhounder asking for help picking a pre theater restaurant!
Here is the problem:
I'm taking my parents out to see Avenue Q at New World Stages (50th b/w 8th and 9th). To give you a little background on them. My Dad is a meat and potatoes kind of guy. If he orders a burger, it is just that: burger. bun. ketchup. Complete. Seafood? How dare I even suggest it! Vegetables? Sure, french fries are a potato. Now, my Mom, on the other hand, is a bit easier to deal with, but it's the decor and service that butter her bread. A dive would probably get me written out of the will. And me? I'm easy. They're "trekking" in from New Jersey, so I don't mind giving them one night to pick (or rather, have me pick FOR them).
We're thinking dinner around 6 since the show is at 8. I would love somewhere in the neighborhood where I can make a reservation, just to make it a bit easier.
So if you have any suggestions, please write away. I'm so appreciate of the help!
Do you have a budget in mind? The Palm has a branch 250 W 50th St (near 8th Ave.), Decent steak and potatoes. Good service and nice decor too (for a steak house).

Can't believe I forgot to put that. I'd say no more than $35-40 for the entree. They're not big drinkers so it's safe to say we'd most likely get a single appetizer (if at all) and then our entrees. We actually went to The Palm for a dinner a few months ago; they really enjoyed it! Something along that vein would probably work out great.

How about Porter House at the Time Warner Center? The most expensive steaks would exceed $40 but they also have other lower priced entrees.
