Sri Lankan on Staten Island-time for an update!
Hello; we are heading to the mall for returns and sales and I have been meaning to try a Sri Lankan place on SI.
The newest post I can find is from 2009.....has anyone been to one recently and can recommend? Prefer not to do the buffet thing unless is it so fabulously recommended.
Thanks in advance!

I've been to San Rasa in the past year and found their food excellent as always. I also like the proximity to the ferry (10 minute walk or 2 minute bus ride) and the fact that you can bring in your own beer, easily obtainable from two adjacent gas stations. We usually go for the buffet and we've always found it fresh and regularly replenished.

We go to Dosa Garden. Feels like the Sri Lanken side has expanded recently. I also recommend it.

I like both Lakruwana in Stapleton and SanRasa in Tompkinsville. I've been to both recently. Hard to say if I prefer one over the other. Lakruwana gets a slight edge from me, possibly because it's closer to home..
Don't quite understand why New Asha on Victory is so highly recommended. Almost everything there sits in a steam table and you just pick what you want (seems to me). Might have a spicier edge than the other places, if you like heat.
Dosa Garden reputedly has some Sri Lankan dishes, but it is mainly an Indian restaurant. That said, it is a terrific Indian restaurant and I highly recommend it.
