An unexpectedly good pizza @ Dal Toro (Palazzo)

A disclaimer to start: I don't like pizza all that much, and never go out of my way to eat it. But the one I tasted tonight really was delicious. It was pure serendipity: my niece was in town with her husband and his brother, and my son and I decided to meet them for gelato after they went to the Blue Man Group show. We were wandering around, almost overwhelmed by the crowds (Vegas seems to be having a great week, yeah!) when my nephew noticed the fancy cars on desplay in the showroom next to Dal Toro restaurant. He had been complaining that he was hungry even after the gelato (no one else was), and it suddenly hit me that the restaurant would be a good place for him to grab a bite while the rest of us had a coffee and admired the cars. The fact that it is tucked away almost in the basement of the Palazzo meant that it was mercifully uncrowded. They were happy to let five of us sit and sip coffee and tea while one of us ate (it was around 9:30pm). Nephew had been craving pizza and there are several on the menu (Dal Toro is billed as "casual Italian" but doesn't really focus on pizza). He ended up getting the "prosciutto without the prosciutto" (he doesn't eat pork). It was a margharita-style thin crust pizza with two types of cheese, arugula, mushrooms, and white truffle oil (and prosciutto of course if you want it). My nephew took one bit and told us that we had to try it. He was right. My niece declared it the "best pizza she had ever eaten..." Not sure I would go that far, but it was up there. Not cheap at 22 bucks for a medium-sized pizza, but definitely delicious. You could do far worse than sitting on the restaurants patio on a nice night (good views of the TI pirate show) and eating that pizza.....I would definitely return for it, and as I mentioned before, I don't even LIKE pizza...:-)
