Question about Split Pea Soup

I'm going to use the leftover Christmas ham to make split pea soup. Can I use the bone to make the soup and then cool and freeze it afterward to use again for another pot of soup later on? Or will the second pot not have enough flavor since the bone was already used once? I'd rather not make one huge pot and have to deal with freezing the soup. Thanks!

If you want to use the bone for flavor but only want to make half as much soup as the bone might otherwise provide flavor for, simply use the bone to prepare a stock and use half the stock for your soup; freeze the rest of the stock for later.

          Use only once...
