Weekday Lunch-Only Spots

Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster. Anyway, I'm usually busy during the week and don't have much of a chance to venture afield from my office (by the culinary wasteland that is Penn Station). So I wanted to ask if there are any places that only serve lunch on weekdays that I should try during the holiday week, when I'll be "working from home." Cheap and counter service is always a plus too. I live on the LES but am willing to venture afield (Brooklyn included).

Thanks!

To add to the original poster: Ciano may be serving the best weekday-only lunch deal that I know of. $20 for three courses. I highly doubt they can sustain that for very long.

I'm in the same predicament. You may consider La Grenouille, which has a weekday-only, $29, 3-course prix-fixe "chalkboard" menu. 'tis the season for La Grenouille; I can enthusiastically recommend this deal.

Got excited and looked up La Grenouille's menus. Looks like the price may have jumped?

“Ardoise” 3 Course Luncheon upstairs, daily for $38: Please call for availability.

It's still a good deal, even at $38. That's a pretty hefty price hike. I was there last year and paid $29 for the ardoise menu.

Yeah, it seems like EVERY restaurant has hiked the price of its lunch prix-fixes, making them much less of a deal :(. Jean-Georges jumped, Bouley jumped, Nougatine's even risen a bit...

What's your price range for food only? Are you thinking upscale or casual?

        Any preferred cuisines?

For Brooklyn you'll need to post on the Outer Boroughs board.

Definitely casual. I like pretty much any cuisine as long as it's done well, except Middle Eastern/traditional Jewish food.

Perhaps places that have very long lines for dinner?

            Pearl Oyster Bar
            Ippudo
            Spotted Pig

            Locanda Verde

And there's always brunch at Clinton St or Shopsin's.
