In February my wife & I are going to be seeing Ron White @ the Long Beach Convention Center. Will be staying overnight @ Hyatt Regency. Will taking train from San Fernando, so we will be on foot,

Any suggestions?

Sounds like fun! Are you looking for something quick and easy in the Long Beach Area, or would you be willing to take the nearby Blue Line up to someplace downtown? Anything cuisine preferences? Budget?

We are coming in on the Blue Line (after taking the Orange & Red Lines). Want to keep it fairly close to convention center. After looking at other Chowhound posts. Looking at these places (in no particular order):
      Sevilla
      L'Opera
      Skyroom
      555 East
If we want to do a cab ride either Sir Winstons or Michael's

Out of your list, I would choose Michaels... although you can save some $$$ and do the passport (You can ask you hotel about roughly how much a cab would b e)

If you absolutely have to stay nearby... then 555 East and perhaps a glass of wine at Wine District.

        Best!

there's also a new beechwood barbecue that's opened up in that area, though i haven't eaten there yet. michael's is quite a schlep from the convention center, btw. closer (though not as fancy) would be some of the places on retro row on Fourth Street. I'm very partial to Lola's. and Number 9 Noodle is good, too. more in the funky casual vein.

Are you asking about dinner? Breakfast? What's your budget?

As our original post said it is dinner. Budget is not the issue, its the food.

Okay, now I'm feeling testy. Your OP does not say dinner.
