Caviar

Any recommendations for a place to pick up some New Year's Eve caviar in the Brookline, Newton, or Boston? TIA

  1. Savenor's or WF would likely have it.

Try the Russian markets in Brookline, Bazaar, Berezka, and I think there's another that gets mentioned here.

    1. Bocco's Cheese + wine on St. James near Arlington had some from D'artagnan the other day.

      1. Marty's Liquors on Washington Street in Newton has one of the more extensive selections I have seen in the Boston area. Dewar's has a much more limited selection, generally only one kind.

Little Pearl suspended operations last summer, when its owner died. One of their finance guys is trying to buy the business, but there are issues, as with deaths of many young people.

Yeah, the stuff was really fabulous, and he was working to raise the bar in aquaculture....
So it's back to Bazaar International on Beacon Street for me...

gg, is Boyajian long gone? or does he just do his flavored oils now?

          2. Try Baza in Newton behind Filenes Basement off Highland Ave. Its a Russian supermarket and they have a few types of caviar and lots of roe. Their smoked fish & pickles are excellent too btw!

            1. I'll add that I saw caviar at Trader Joes for $20, haven't tried it yet.

              1. Formaggio can special order for you. Takes 2 days I think. The domestic stuff starts at about $35 an oz.

                1. I've seen segruvia occasionally at Costco, 2oz. for aprox. $70.00.

                  1. Thanks gang for all your help. Have a Happy and Healthy New Year.
