Merlin's Rest

I found some older reviews, and am just wondering if anyone has some more recent experience to add. Since then have they gotten better, worse, or about the same?

I was there last week and enjoyed the food. Between me and my two dining companions, we had the fish and chips, steak and stilton, and the stew. I wouldn't say any are life changing, but all three were good in their own right.

Combined with the enormous whiskey selection, I think it's a nice neighborhood spot.

i like it too... but if you are serious about your diet and only willing to break it on rare occasions i think you have better choices.

Do you mean the food specifically? or the place in general? I haven't eaten there, but I find it a nice place to stop in for a beer now and then.

        The food.

        Specifically, any of these:
        the pate
        fish and chips
        cobb salad
        the burgers

I'm meeting a group there, over dinner time. The menu doesn't hold much easily adaptable to my diet. For really good food, I don't mind making an exception. However, if the fare is more towards the mediocre then I'd just as soon eat before/after.

I have not been for quite awhile, but the food is nothing special. I have veggie friends who kind of like the veg shephard's pie. I prefer the more "traditional" fare to their burgers which have never impressed.
