Looking for best Italian/Tapas in New Orleans
My husband and I will be in New Orleans in a few weeks and I am looking to break things up with an Italian restaurant or tapas restuarant. I have seen a few recommendations but I would like a recommendation for the top Italian and top tapas restaurant. We will not have a car and are staying in the quarter. Food quality is my top prioroty and a close second is the service. Would love to hear what everyone thinks. Thanks!
Rambla in the CBD, Baru on Magazine and Salu also on Magazine are 3 good tapas restaurants. People like Tommy’s in the Warehouse District and Irene’s in the Quarter and 1179 on Magazine Street for Italian, but if you are from the Northeast, you probably get better Italian at home. Also consider Le Meritage which doesn’t do tapas, but they do 1/2portions of everything on the menu with wine pairings which allows for plenty of sharing and experimenting. Oh, I forgot, if you want Italy-style Italian with really good pasta dishes, Domenica at the Roosevelt Hotel and A-Mano in the Warehouse District are doing really good interpretations of that. I have found Domenica to be the better of the two (more consistent).

The above list is very good. If you want to break it up at a lunch, Rio Mar has a tapas lunch. They are a short walk from Tommy's.
