Dumpling Cafe - Quick report

I ate at Dumpling Cafe in Chinatown last weekend for lunch - just a small meal, but quite good.

We ordered the pork XLB, which were better than I remembered - thin wrappers, but strong enough to not break as I clumsily picked them up with chopsticks. Good amount of broth, nice flavor to the meat - these might be my favorite XLB in Boston at this point.

After seeing it on another table, we ordered the Zha Ziang Mian (which is called something like "Noodles with pork and bean sauce" on the menu) - I liked this version. Lots of meat, as well as bits of tofu in a sweet sauce - noodles were thick and had a nice bite to them, and portion was generous.

We also got some spinach with garlic (this was off the lunch special page, so it came with some rice and with some soup of the day - chicken&vegetable). Spinach portion was big, lots of garlic, nicely done and not too salty.

This place has moved up in my rotation. In addition to the XLB, their Taiwanese pan fried dumplings and their kidney with BB sauce is fantastic..available as a lunch plate.
