slider rolls in Westchester?

i_eat_a_lot_of_ice_cream Dec 22, 2011 05:32 PM

Hi,
I'm looking for a source for little mini rolls for mini pulled pork sandwiches, like slider rolls. I found them at Fairway today and a little bag (Eli's brand) was $8.99. Anyone seen them anywhere else in the county? Thank you!!!

I'm pretty sure I've seen them at Stew Leonard's (but a call ahead of time would be smart) since they sell uncooked slider patties.

Have you checked at Zeytinia in Croton?

Huge bags at BJ's for half that price!

Thanks for the ideas! I will definitely call Stew's & check Zeytinia. I don't have a BJ's membership. I also am pondering calling Birdsall House and asking where they get their pulled pork slider rolls from.

I'm pretty sure Birdsall's rolls all come from Wild Hive.

I just rejoined BJ's. Maybe we can work something out. :)

I've seen them at A&P and Shoprite - even Martins has them.

Most stores that carry martins have the small rolls, martins dinner rolls also work in a pinch.
Stew leonard definitely has them, but I would go near that place today or tomorrow. I was there at 10am and there was a three hour wait for tenderloin butchering. Ive never seen anything like it.

Soon after I posted this I thought of Martin's small dinner rolls, but I am iffy on how those would be with pulled pork. And I definitely won't be going anywhere near the madhouse that is Stew's for a couple days; the sliders in question would be for New Year's. Thanks!

Might be worth asking Craig at Umami where he gets his slider rolls.

Why? Martins rolls are delicious - can't see them conflicting with pulled pork.

you can not go wrong with Martins small potato rolls for pulled pork. griddled quick with a dollop of creamy cole slaw or kim chee and you have an awesome slider.

As mentioned, they are perfect for pulled pork.

Thank you everyone. You have convinced me-- Martin's dinner rolls it is. The cole slaw is a great idea too-- I was trying to think of a suitable garnish.

In Port Chester at Cassones factory bakery they have "Texas" rolls that are small kaiser rolls. A dozen are about $1.50 They are fresh and work well for sliders

I have also seen them at Trader Joes.
