NYC for just one afternoon/evening
I'm visiting Philadelphia from New Orleans and will be taking the train to New York tomorrow. My boyfriend and I will be in the city from about 11am until just after dinner. Seeking suggestions for lunch/dinner...what would you choose if you had just one day.
re: H Manning
Sorry...I knew better than to omit those details. I am not looking to spend more than $150 ($75 each) for the day on food. We're both pretty open food wise...just something "good." We'll be riding the train and doing other touristy stuff while there - so I'm guessing our attire will be more appropriate for casual restaurants.
At your price range, you'd be able to do wd~50 for dinner. Ordering 2-3 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts should put you right around $75 per person on food. You'll want to call to see if there are any availabilities for tomorrow night. Could be difficult since tomorrow is Friday. Or, just walk-in and eat at the bar.
The Modern Bar Room is also fantastic. It's generally around $50 for food per person and is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. You can find lots of discussions on it if you do a search on this board.

Junoon ($24 lunch prix fixe)
Ma Peche (bar menu)
