Open on Christmas Day

Is there any place in St. Paul or nearby that's relatively affordable and open on Christmas Day? Chinese or American would be great for my non-foodie dad.

Thanks!

Per Rick Nelson in today's Star Tribune:

    Dec. 25th dining

Barbette owner Kim Bartmann's Bryant-Lake Bowl (810 W. Lake St., Mpls., www.bryantlakebowl.com) opens at 5 p.m. on Christmas, and the kitchen keeps cooking until 12:30 a.m.

Two Tea House locations are open for Christmas lunch and dinner: 88 Nathan Lane, Plymouth, and 1676 Suburban Av., St. Paul, www.ourteahouse.com.

ding ding, teahouse st paul is the winner! it is quite a pretty restaurant, too, esp for being stuck into a strip mall.

i thought the op asked for open in saint paul on xmass suggesting that chinese or american might do, i did not parse the sentence so finely as to reject other options nor do i think it needs to be so interpreted.
i guess there are many influences on american cuisine but i do not see how the influences must be rejected in order to preserve the purity of the influenced.

hmm. i take your point. moth also has some menu options at a lower price point, though it's possible to have a splurge-y meal there. maybe a very good option for the op, after all.

Gorkha Palace is open on Christmas Day, and it's easily accessible depending on where you are in St. Paul. From the Fairgrounds, it's ten minutes. And the food is great!

According to their FB page Gorkha will be closed.

Sorry about that! I must have misread an email they sent.

BLB is a fine place for drinks and such, but I have to say I have had very mixed experiences with the food.

Here's a City Pages column from a couple years ago that seems like it's probably still helpful:

It used to be that Mickey's Diner in downtown St. Paul was always open. Is that still there?

I'd suggest looking at the ads in the City Pages and Mps/St Paul Magazine for more info.

Mickey's has been open continuously (24 hrs a day, every day of the year) since, I believe, 1939. And it's tasty diner food! I love Mickey's....
